On September 29, the world's first museum of the great Russian composer Igor Fedorovich Stravinsky opened after a large-scale restoration in Ustilug (Volyn, Ukraine).
The grand opening of the restored estate of the genius was attended by the Governor of the Volyn region Boris Klimchuk, a representative of the Stravinsky family Anastasia Kozachenko-Stravinsky (Director of the Igor Stravinsky Fund) and Minister of Culture of Ukraine Leonid Novokhatko.
The opening ceremony was followed by the concert “The Path of the Rite of Spring”.
The music of the ballet "The Rite of Spring" in the author's version for two pianos was performed by famous pianists from St. Petersburg, laureates of international competitions Pavel Raikerus and Petr Laul.
Ustiluga folk songs, which the genius composer could hear, and other Ukrainian and Russian songs, were performed by Svetlana Kontsedalova and Oleksandr Polyachok (Kirovohrad), Andriy Lyashuk (Rivne), Zoryana Nesteruk (Lutsk).
The head of the project, candidate of art criticism Konstantin Uchitel (St. Petersburg) and the scientific consultant of the project, who together with Oleksa Oshurkevich recorded many songs of the places where the composer wrote many of his compositions, Doctor of Art History, Professor Mikhail Lobanov (St. Petersburg), spoke about Stravinsky.
The concert took place thanks to the support of the project by the Igor Stravinsky Foundation in Switzerland.
A tour of the museum was conducted by one of the founders of the museum, Candidate of Historical Sciences Elena Ogneva.
“The Way of the Rite of Spring” is a concert tour within the framework of the “Genius of the Place” project dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the world premiere of the ballet in Paris.
